Patatour 2022 brought together more than 300 participants around caring for the planet

More than 300 people participated in the activity whose objective was framed in generating a learning space in contact with nature.

In Anticura, Puyehue National Park, the tenth Patatour of the Los Lagos Region was held. The activity aimed to create a learning space in contact with nature around issues such as water, responsible management of solid waste, biodiversity, air quality, physical activity, renewable energy and healthy eating. For the first time the Patatour will be held in two days, this, to cover the large number of establishments that have joined the national environmental certification system (SNCAE).

During the tour, the students had the opportunity to learn by playing in each of the eco-stations, which were presented and directed by representatives of the organizing institutions.

Carola Iturriaga, Seremi del Medio Ambiente highlighted the promotion of caring for nature through this activity, “the institutions participate with environmental monitors who accompany and motivate the students as they pass through each of the eco-stations, this is a important outdoor education activity, which allows us to promote and encourage the care of nature and our environment. Thus, students, monitors and members of CREA leave highly motivated and enthusiastic”.

For her part, Liliana Alarcón, Seremi de Energía, highlighted the care of energy, “as a ministry we are very happy to participate in this environmental education day, we have an entire educational line, with educational resources and on this day we are working with boys and girls, to be able to promote the care of energy and also so that they know the renewable sources that our country has”.

Marco Barría, volunteer, student at the University of Los Lagos, recounted his experience “it was very gratifying, it fills a lot of hope to work with children, who in the future are going to be adults with a critical spirit and very responsible regarding pollution and to prevent the world from contaminating itself”

The event is convened by the Regional Committee for Environmental Education, organized jointly by the Sendero Foundation of Chile, the SEREMI of the Environment, with the support of the Austral University of Chile, the University of Los Lagos, the National Forestry Corporation (Conaf ), SEREMI of Energy, Municipality of Puerto Montt, among other institutions. This activity and the next Pataour to be held in the Chiloé National Park are financed by the Regional Government, resources approved by the CORE.

The call that was addressed to the environmental forgers of educational establishments that have environmental certification from the Province of Osorno, had the participation of 25 delegations from schools and high schools in the province.

In total, about 300 people attended the activity, including students, teachers, parents and monitors, who had an active and valuable participation in the development of this initiative that is taking place for the tenth time in the region.

Vinca major conocida popularmente como vinca, pertenece a la familia Apocinacea, hierba perenne rastrera originaria del mediterraneo, introducida para cultivo y jardineria, prefiere lugares húmedos y es tolerante a la sombra. Potencialmente  invasora dado que hoy en día es común encontrarla a orillas de camino o en claros del bosque siempreverde.
