Nelda is the founder of Fundación Mongen, with more than 15 years of experience in local and regional universities, she has worked as a teacher at the undergraduate and postgraduate level in the area of ecology, management and conservation of natural resources, non-conventional renewable energies and sustainability.
Her professional training as an Engineer and a Master’s degree has led her to participate in the “Darwin” seminars, “Sustainable Energy Future”, “Ecosystem Services and Human Well-being”, “Territorial Processes and Local Sustainability Strategies” and likewise, direct outreach projects science, as well as the generation of educational activities, both for the Regional Government and for the Scientific and Technological Fund.
From a southern heart, my childhood took place in the fields of Northern Patagonia. I love nature, I grew up between the orchards, the forests and the rivers.
I am convinced that our grain of sand favors the conservation of nature and that we will turn our funds into living projects.
My contribution to the research is oriented towards the characterization of chemical traits and ecological patterns in various components of the Temperate Forest and Wetlands, to understand their organization and apply this knowledge in conservation.
I am a lover of birds and their nesting habits.
I am a biologist and I have a mention in zoology, I have been studying lepidoptera for almost 10 years, a lineage of herbivorous animals and the third most diverse group of insects, surpassed only by Coleoptera and Diptera. Focusing mainly on the moths of the Geometridae family. My interest in Lepidoptera arose from their interesting diversity and general ignorance of many aspects of their biology. I am currently investigating different processes of evolution in this group of organisms. From Fundación Mongen I hope to contribute to the scientific dissemination of Chilean lepidoptera, contributing my knowledge to their assessment and conservation.
I was born and raised in the south of Chile.
I studied Transpersonal Humanist Psychology, where I was able to learn and specialize in different disciplines that allow us to connect more, from a spiritual and therapeutic development approach. My passion is connecting with people who want to explore, within the confines of their being, both emotionally, mentally, spiritually and physically. Thanks to the full connection of our senses with nature.
It is about LIVING HERE and NOW, which implies minimizing the feeling of rushing, as well as embracing yourself in the moment you are living and calming your mind of thoughts and worries.
I am a lawyer and a student of Pedagogy in Basic Education at the Universidad Austral. I fervently believe that every human being is born with the vocation to learn, which is why my challenge is to promote this concern to know, know and understand the reality that surrounds them through strategies that respect diversity and value the curiosity of children. , learning through play. Education is the pillar of society, which is why moving towards a modernization of teaching methods, classrooms and content taught is essential to care for and improve the world in which we live.
I entered the doctorate to obtain the skills to develop research, but I had not found a topic that I was passionate about and that would allow me to be a concrete contribution in the medium term. Until I noticed that the rhododendron in my house was killing a lot of bees. I didn’t know if it was part of the cycle, if they were introduced or native. I knocked on several doors (SAG, Universities, INIA and RRSS). Those who managed to identify them were Abejas de Chile and I am currently part of their foundation and my work is focused on developing research on pollinators, their biology, ecology and the ecosystems associated with them. From Fundación Mongen I hope to be able to contribute to the conservation of biodiversity.
I was born in the southwest of the Andes.
My music is a reflection of what Chilean nature inspires. Andean sounds, organic percussion and birdsong accompany the downtempo beats with which I develop an expedition along glaciers, forests and rivers from the desert to Patagonia.
I am constantly searching, creating and rescuing the sound that emerges from mother earth and its surroundings.
